Description
This is a fun painting that was inspired by the Roland TR-808 drum machine. This device was a game changer in the music industry. Over the course of the 1980s, the 808 attracted a cult following among underground musicians for its affordability on the used market, ease of use and idiosyncratic sounds, particularly its deep, booming bass drum. It became a cornerstone of the emerging electronic, dance, and hip hop genres, Two of the first chart topping hits were “Planet Rock” by Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force and “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye. This drum machine helped create so many “Jams” that I had this idea and painted it using oil and acrylic on wood panel. This is a limited edition of 100 prints measuring 11″ by 14″ and is printed on a thick archival paper stock. Each print is hand signed, numbered and emboss stamped.
