My newest is an Apple art themed painting and is titled “The Almighty Apple” (forbidden fruit). The apple has a very powerful and compelling connotation. When I first came up with this idea for a painting the premise was Adam and Eve but then when trying to decide on a final title of the piece I started thinking about the symbolism of the Apple over the years. Yes It’s famous for being the forbidden fruit in the Bible’s tale of Adam and Eve and the creation of man, but also has many others. It is the Beatles Record lable, the famous health rhyme “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” which actually stemmed from (pun intended) an even older saying, “eat an apple on going to bed and you will keep a doctor from earning his bread” and Now a days if you say Apple most people assume you mean Apple Inc. the international megacorp technology manufacture. So over the years the apple has been very popular. I wanted the viewer to also see the juxtaposition between the nude female figure and the apple as a powerful symbol. There is a vulnerability of being naked and exposed compared to the healthy powerful symbol of the apple. Women have come along way in gender equality and I am happy to be living in time that all races and genders are becoming “equal humans”. We still have a ways to go but we are heading in the right direction. I hope I captured some of these symbols and comparisons in my “Almighty Apple (forbidden fruit) painting. The bare minimum (pun intended) I hope you find this painting beautiful. I do have hand signed and numbered limited edition prints available. They are 11″ by 17″ and printed on a 100 lb. paper stock. It is a small edition of only 75 so grab one while they last.
