I am happy to announce my newest print release titled GUILTY PLEASURES. I had the opportunity to do a painting for a recent 10 by 10 art show at the Mesa Art Center (MAC). They actually switched up the show this year and asked that the artists do their art on light rail tickets. This was to help promote and welcome the long awaited extension of the train to down town Mesa. I wanted to do something with an Arizona theme and I have had the idea of a cactus and balloon concept that I thought would be a good fit for this show. On a side note I added the band aids after I was inspired by one of graffiti artist Banksy’s pieces he did when he took over New York City and had the world captivated by his numerous graffiti art tag ups, installations, and public displays of art. Banksy is a favorite artist of mine, who has inspired me to work deeper with my art and use it as a voice, weather that be a clever pun or a powerful political or religous concept. http://banksy.co.uk/ I look forward to seeing his new topical art wherever that next sighting may be. I always liked the humanizing of the saguaro cactus. It has been done over and over in marketing and advertising logos here in Arizona but I wanted to do something more clever and artistic with it. I enjoy the juxtaposition of a cactus and a balloon and the title ” Guilty Pleasures” seemed perfect. Things you should not possess or that are bad for you but are in fact very enjoyable. The original was painted on a light rail ticket and sold at the show but the image was so popular that I decided to get prints of it made. This ” GUILTY PLEASURE” print release is a hand signed limited edition of only 75. Each print measures 11″ by 17″ and is printed on a thick 120 lb. paper. They will be only $30 each
